They are used to gracing social and corporate events because their calendar is always full as many want to have them at their events. The foremost banker was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited in March 2011 and as the first female CEO and the first indigenous CEO of one of Standard Chartered’s most promising markets, she provides leadership for the group in Nigeria through developing overall country strategy and direction. 

She holds a Law degree from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom. What of Tomi Somefun? In the course of her career with Unity Bank Plc, she has served as an Executive Director in charge of Lagos and the South-West region of Nigeria until August, 2015. As though to cement her long-standing career in treasury, investment and commercial banking, Mrs. Tomi Somefun, on August 12th, 2015, assumed her new role as the Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc. as the first woman ever appointed to that position in the history of the retail bank.

She is also one of the few women holding CEO positions in Nigeria’s many banks. Let us also tell you about the pretty banker, Mary Akpobome, the wife of popular comedian, Ali Baba. The well-decorated banking veteran with several medals under her belt including the prestigious Certificate Of Recognition for her leadership and contribution to the advancement of Nigeria by Nigeria Professional International (NIPRO) was an executive director at Heritage Bank before her present position as the MD of Enterprise Bank. Since her husband, Segun Agbaje, became Managing Director of GTBank Plc, Derin has left no one in doubt that she greatly complements his towering corporate status. A silver spoon kid, her mother, Late Toyin Olakunri, was the first female Chartered Accountant in Nigeria. What of Chizoba Wigwe? She is the stylish wife of Herbert Wigwe, FCA, who serves as the Group Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank Plc. He has in his possession an impressive and intimidating CV to earn him the rise to be the post. She is also a professional and seasoned consultant. Until a few years ago, Banke Balogun, nee Alakija used to be seen at functions often but since she got married to MD, FCMB, Ladi Balogun, she has reduced her social outings such that she is no longer a common face in the Lagos social space. And even though she still graces some events in the company of Ladi Balogun, her busy husband and Managing Director of First City Monument Bank, Banke now prefers to spend quality time with her immediate family. Married to Ladi Balogun, who is perhaps the most popular of the sons of Otunba Subomi Balogun, Banke is an epitome of grace. Nnamdi John Okonkwo is the Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Nigeria, a position he was appointed to in 2014, from his former role as the Executive Director of South Directorate at Fidelity Bank Nigeria.

Feyisola Abiru is the wife of Skye bank MD, Tokunboh Abiru. She is the founder of the upscale interior décor company, Home & You which she founded 25 years ago. She diversified from just interior designing consultations to full-blown furniture designers and manufacturers and have an in-house factory with a team of highly skilled workers in Lagos. Feyisola Abiru graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1990 and is a veteran in Interior Design and the Furniture Manufacturing Industry. She has continually invested heavily in her personal growth by attending courses at the Lagos Business School and IMD in Switzerland to sharpen her entrepreneurial skills. Additionally, she currently sits on the board of Vono Nigeria Plc. Beyond her work in the Furniture manufacturing industry, She is committed to the development of young people. She is also happily married with three amazing children. She is on the board of IWS as the chairperson of Skill Acquisition Centre. 

Beautiful and courageous, Lotanna Uzoka is the wife of Kennedy Uzoka, who holds the position of Co-CEO, Group MD & Executive Director at United Bank for Africa Plc. He is also on the board of The Nigerian Economic Summit Group and UBA Bank Kenya Ltd. In his past career, he held the position of Chief Marketing Officer & Regional Director at Standard Trust Bank Plc. Lotanna is the managing Director of Kennedia Consulting Limited.
